1. Introduction

With a specific interest in web technology and several years of experience using SAS mostly within the pharmaceutical sector we decided to define a project in which we could bundle this experience and knowledge to develop a “proof of concept” version of the SAS Information Delivery Portal.

This paper will walk through multiple ways to integrate processes and departments that contribute to the core activities of a pharmaceutical company. From patient recruitment to data collection and from data cleansing to generating reports, rather than covering all functionalities, the paper will explore how web technology can be of added value.

NOTE: All clinical information used within the paper and demonstration portal is dummy data, created by OCS Consulting for demonstration purposes only.

2. Objectives of this paper

The objective of this paper is to illustrate how pharmaceutical companies can take advantage of web technology to improve collaboration between people and across departments when integrating information from departments that contribute to the clinical trial process. For this purpose, OCS Consulting has developed a “proof of concept” instance of the SAS Information Delivery Portal presenting a broad range of examples to demonstrate the potential.
